Summer.

I meant to post this excerpt from the Chicago Sun-Times a month ago, but we all know just how GREAT I am with frequent postings. Better late than never, I suppose.

This is from an article by Neil Steinberg entitled, "What I did on my summer vacation." For those of you that don't know, Summer is my ALL-TIME favorite season. It's what gets me through the horrendous Chicago Winters. I just love flip-flops, painted toes, BBQ's, being barefoot outside...the smell of the fresh cut grass...sunlight until 8pm...the ice cream man slowly parusing the street in hopes of finding some sugar-hungry kids with $. I love everything about it, and before it's over, I just had to post it. (Original published date, July 9th, 2008.)

"Every summer, there's one moment when the fact hits you, sweetly and simply, like a bell striking just once. For me, that moment came during the concert. The philharmonic was playing "God Bless America" and everyone was standing at their blankets, singing along, except for several small children, who chased each other, holding pinwheels and little flags. My own two boys weren't running--too old for that---but standing, focused on the big mounds of ice cream each was working on. I looked at them and thought: It's summer."

Gorgeous, wasn't it? `

Make the most of it kids...it'll be gone before we know it!
