No really, I am. I spend LOTS of time reading other people's blogs...and admire them for their consistency with posting. Me? I'm terrible. I don't know how people find the time to post so often. I guess they don't waste their time reading other blogs, and just focus on their own.
Duh.
I guess I just don't have anything exciting going on right now. At least that I feel warrants a post. Yeah, my life is pretty lame-o. The highlight (other than the grad school thing) was having the house to myself for 3 WHOLE DAYS last week, while the old man and the boy were in NYC. (For my whole plethora of readers out there, the old man is my father, and the boy is my brother. Pretty self-explanatory, if you ask me.) They went to NYC to see a Yankee's game before they tear down Yankee Stadium. In the midst of all the excitement, the boy managed to score tickets to see a taping of David Letterman. My house is a big Letterman household, so this was just short of a dream come true. I'm pretty sure the old man was as excited as a pig in shit that day. It was a really good episode. No sightings of them in the audience, but exciting all the same.
They flew standby and spent 15hrs at LaGuardia (how in the HELL do you spell that?) trying to get out...both of them ended up biting the bullet and purchasing a ticket home. Guess who got to play airport pickup wench? Yup, that's right. I've never actually done a pickup before. I did a dropoff once. You know who you are. ("But...I brought you this REALLY cool Easy Button?!?!") I brought Angie (dragged, I should say) because I didn't trust myself to complete the task of "airport pickup" alone. I'm completely inept when it comes to such things. At first we thought we were only picking up the boy....as he boarded a plane earlier than the old man. As soon as the boy hopped in the car, the old man called him to say his plane had landed. Well damn. I was forced to circle the airport 4x until Cptn. Hawaiian shirt made himself visible. (I kid you not. The man owns AT LEAST 60 Hawaiian shirts. I'm not exaggerating. Not one bit. Do you think they have a 12-step for people like him?) Long story short, I'm an airport pro now. (Did I see any compensation for the pickup? No. Not even a cheesy statue of liberty statue...or I <3>
The maid of honor thing. Pain in the ass. Don't get me wrong, I love it. I like doing all of this stuff...I just never realized how much was truly involved in this. I'm honored though...it's a fun gig. I get to walk down the aisle with not one but TWO guys on my arm. =) I've just booked the limo for the bachelorette party...and now I'm working on games for both that and the bridal shower. There will not, I repeat WILL NOT be lame-o games at this shower. There's one that involves Play-Doh and the human anatomy. Draw your own conclusions. (Whomever creates the best looking...most "lifelike," wins. I did not come up with this game myself. Hand to God I didn't. Surprised, aren't you?) I just pray to God that my fatass fits into that dress come October 11th. I remember last May when they got engaged I said to myself "Oh you've got like 15 months to lose weight. You'll be frickin SKINNY by the time the wedding comes around." Oh my. How time certainly flies when you're NOT losing weight. If I can lose 20lbs by October 11th, it'll be a mircale. Jesus. Tomorrow is August 1st. I'm fucked.
Melissa, Jeremy, Yufong and I went to the Festival of the Lakes in Hammond, IN two weeks ago...to see LIVE, of course. We saw them there in 06, and this was the fateful eve when we FINALLY got to meet the eternally gorgeous Ed up close and personal. We were hoping for a repeat performance on this occasion, as well. We arrived around oh...5pm...to a frickin terrential downpour. It was like Woodstock...we were SOAKED from head to toe. Nothing that sitting in the beer tent for a few hours couldn't fix! We ended up staying there until around 9pm when LIVE took the stage. Fab show as always...a little short (it was free, I should add) and the typical NW Indiana hillbilly crowd only knew the 5 most popular songs...which of course, is to be expected. Definitely good times though. After the show we decided to stalk the tour bus in hopes of our boys coming to sign autographs/take pictures. As we were walking to the bus, poor Melissa slipped on a wet patch and took a NASTY fall into a huge frickin' mud puddle. As soon as I knew she didn't hurt herself...needless to say, the laughter commenced. Oh my god...it was HYSTERICAL! (Yes, there are pictures to follow.) Luckily, all the guys game out, and were gracious enough to take pictures and sign autographs. I got pics with just about all the guys...I'll try to include some here.
See what I mean about being a bad blogger? Today is now August 10th...and I'm just returning to this post. I don't know what my problem is. I have so much to say, and just so little time to say it in. (That last sentence wasn't gramatically correct, was it? Not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition? Man, it's been WAY too long!) As I was reading back, I read over the part about the dress. So, I decided to stop mid-sentence, and go try it on. I've just learned that it's nearly impossible to zip a dress by yourself. So I shimmied it around to the front (sucked it ALL in) zipped it, and turned it around. Conclusions:
*It fits....if I don't plan on spending much time that day BREATHING.
*Must stop eating. All together. I can go two months without food, can't I?
*That last statement was dumb. I'd be a real bitch without food. 1,200 cals a day. No more, no less. Let's honestly see if I can stick to that every day for the next two months. Must lose 20lbs by Oct11th.
*Ok, so I did try it on with no undergarments...so those will help. ::Phew::
Yeah..so I need to get my nose to the grindstone here people. If you see me walking down the street with any food product in my hand (unless it's a ricecake) feel free to bat it away. You have my permission. We are now T-Minus 8 weeks one day. Here goes nothing!
In other news, Miss Melissa, Dawn's sister had her babies on Friday. 8.8.08. How cool is that? She had a little baby girl born first (by 2 mins) and she weighed in at 7lbs. Her baby brother came just moments later, weighing in just under 7lbs. Jonah and I went to Good Sam to see them, and both babies and mom are doing very well. They are cute little buggers to say the least...chubby...quiet...just awesome little babies! No names yet...hopefully we'll hear something today. (Almost makes me want one of my own. Almost.)
Alright people, I need to get my butt outside and do some yardwork...burn some damned calories! It's a gorgeous day here in Chicago...summer is going by all too fast...so I need to go enjoy every last moment out there.
I'll be back sooner than later, I promise.
(yeah, right.)
