Really, I just don't understand. People are growing incredibly rude with each passing day. You ask somebody a question, and they bite your head off for no apparent reason. Sure, you're having a bad day? I understand, we all do. Still no reason to give me a hard time for asking you a simple question.
And don't DARE ask somebody with any bit of authority anything that would require just a hint of compassion. They're doing nothing more than trying to kiss corporate ass, and generally just towing the company line.
So we had these torrential rains over the weekend, which caused mad flooding, and crazy traffic delays. (I'm talking what usually takes 20 mins took me an hour and a half.) I ended up arriving to work and clocking in 12 mins late; not the end of the world. I decided to ask my boss if we'd be required to make up the time, since this was beyond ANY BODY'S control. This was the response:
" Each associate has to work 40 hours per week for a complete paycheck. So yes, the time needs to be made up. "
No shit? I mean really, no shit? God forbid this hell hole actually shows a little compassion, and allows its' employees to have a "by" on making up their time. Nope, that thought would dare cross their mind. If it doesn't involved a fucking dollar sign, they don't want to hear about it. And I bet you a million to one that the suits aren't making up a second of ANY missed time. This isn't a personal thing against the boss that told me this; they are just doing their job. At the same time; let's try to be a little more human in our approach towards one another.
I can read a rule book just as well as you; no need to recite it to me.
(And while I'm in the complaining mood: If I hear that big OGRE make that disgusting "clearing every frickin ounce of phlegm out of my nasal passage, and proceeding to swallow it" noise one more time, I swear to you, I'm going to walk over there and punch him in the head. Mark my words.)
