Duh.

What a difference a week makes. A whirl-fucking-wind of difference I say.

I have to give Allison the kudos she deserves first and foremost. When I mentioned that I was starting Medifast, she mentioned that she just couldn't grasp the concept as food merely being a source of fuel. I understood where she was coming from, but felt desperate enough at that point that I was willing to give anything a try. Ask me to cut off my toes and guarantee me a thin body? Sure. Sign me up.

That was a month ago.

Boy how things have changed.

After 3 weeks on that wretched program, I've come to grow a true appreciation for REAL HEALTHY FOOD. (Yeah, needless to say I quit that bogus program. Ok, maybe "bogus" is a bit harsh. If you can stand to eat 5 dehydrated meals a day out of foil packs, by all means, I give you total props. It takes willpower, courage, and all the strength in the world. That of which I didn't have. By the time I would get to my "Lean and Green" at the end of the day...oh lord...I was in heaven.) I will say this; Medifast-ing for 3 weeks, and Allison's comment always sitting in the back of my mind was all the fuel I needed.

I'm back to regular food. MF (as the Medifast people, or MF'ers ::funny, I know:: refer to themselves as) did teach me the value of a calorie, and how easy it is not to pay attention. It also taught me to keep an eye on my carbs. I believe that lowering them (both cals and carbs) to a respectable amount will definitely aid in successful weight loss. Americans eat TOO many of both. I've spent the last week learning to keep them in check. With real food.

I've never been so grateful in my life. And felt better. And exercised more.

Walking. It's my new passion. I'm in love.

Water. I'm currently at 121oz for the day. Crazy, I know. But it helps TREMENDOUSLY.

I lost 4lbs this week. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow, after I've had a respectable amount of sleep. (I have a problem...I just couldn't shut off Law & Order SVU last night.)

Food is fuel. Absolutely. But it has to be a QUALITY fuel as well. Your body CANNOT operate at peak performance if your feeding it crap. Ie, junkfood...or dehydrated packets of god knows what. (Ok, that was a stretch, but needed to be utilized for dramatic effect.)

It truly is NOT A DIET! It's a lifestyle change that must be sustainable indefinitely. I most certainly could not live on FOIL PACKETS forever.

Duh.

(Thanks Allison!)
